Look for the cause
Fatigue, weight change, poor sleep, low drive, brain fog, and breathlessness usually have reasons. We look for them before reaching for a quick fix.
Physician-led functional & preventive medicine
Campbell Foundational Health is the practice of Steven J. Campbell, MD. Hospital-trained rigor, time to actually look at the whole picture, and a plan built around how you want to feel and function for decades to come.
Approach
Most people don't need more appointments. They need someone to connect the dots between their symptoms, their labs, and their goals, and then stay with them long enough to see it work.
Fatigue, weight change, poor sleep, low drive, brain fog, and breathlessness usually have reasons. We look for them before reaching for a quick fix.
Labs and testing are chosen to answer a specific question, then explained in plain language so you understand what the numbers mean for you.
Nutrition, training, sleep, and targeted therapy when it's warranted. Each part has a reason, a way to measure it, and a time to reassess.
Areas of focus
Evaluation and management for men and women, including testosterone, perimenopause and menopause, thyroid, and fertility-related concerns.
Blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and ApoB, inflammation, and body composition, addressed early rather than after the diagnosis arrives.
Brain fog, memory and focus concerns, and practical steps to lower long-term dementia risk, including screening and modifiable risk factors.
Unexplained fatigue or shortness of breath with exertion, drawing on a decade of pulmonary, critical care, and exercise-testing experience.
Thoughtful interpretation of comprehensive blood work and genetic results, with a clear line between what's established and what's still emerging.
Strength, sleep, recovery, and nutrition as the backbone of longevity, with targeted therapies considered when the evidence supports them.

About Dr. Campbell
Dr. Campbell spent years caring for some of the sickest patients in the hospital as a pulmonary and critical care physician. At St. Elizabeth Physicians in Northern Kentucky he launched the pulmonary hypertension clinic and rebuilt the exercise-testing program into one of the few in the world offering invasive protocols with advanced data interpretation.
That work made one thing clear: much of what lands people in the hospital starts years earlier, in metabolism, hormones, sleep, fitness, and inflammation. He founded Campbell Foundational Health in 2022 to address those foundations directly, and serves as Medical Director at Marek Health, where he leads protocols and clinician education in advanced diagnostics and therapeutics.
He lives in Northern Kentucky with his wife and four kids, and still spends his free time lifting, cycling, and playing guitar.
